“We do not investigate whether they are subject to conscription or not. Based on basic humanity, we will not allow them to be sent to their deaths,” Deputy Prime Minister Zsolt Semjén said on Hungarian TV ATV.

“All refugees from Ukraine are completely safe here and receive all the help, regardless of whether they have Hungarian or Ukrainian nationality,” added the Hungarian Deputy Prime Minister.

According to Semjén, all refugees from Ukraine are free people who can decide for themselves whether to stay in Hungary or go to another country. “Ukraine wants to obtain the extradition of these people in order to send them to war, to the front where people are dying,” stated the Hungarian Deputy Prime Minister.

Budapest has not had the best relations with Kyiv for a long time, due, among other things, to disagreements over the rights of the Hungarian minority living in Transcarpathia. After the start of the Russian aggression, Hungary provides humanitarian aid to its neighbor, but does not participate in arms deliveries. Prime Minister Viktor Orbán emphasizes that the only solution to the conflict is peace negotiations. However, Russia, which attacked its neighbor and wants to deprive it of a piece of territory, does not yet have these.
