Goals: 37. Antoine Semenyo

Bournemouth won 1-0 at Wolves in the 29th round of the Premier League. The Cherries were clearly the more dangerous team for most of the match, but they took only one of the many shooting opportunities. However, they didn’t have to regret it too much, as the Wolves were able to respond to Antoine Semeny’s 37th-minute strike only with unrecognized strikes from Hee-Chan Hwang and Max Kilman. The guests thus jumped from 13th place in the table to the elite ten, when, among other things, they jumped over The Wanderers.

Manager Gary O’Neil has described the health of the Wolves squad as the worst he has had to deal with in his coaching career. It was known in the duel with a tired Arsenal, who did not present themselves in the best form, but still took three points from the Molineux Stadium. The Wolves could make amends against Bournemouth. Although he did not win three times in a row, he could play the end of the season completely without pressure, as his relegation was already mathematically ruled out.

The beginning of the duel clearly belonged to the guests, who complicated the passing of the Wolves with good movement and a high press. This resulted in Tommy Doyle losing the ball in front of his own goal in the ninth minute, but the Cherries were unable to capitalize as Dominic Solanke missed with a spot-kick after some quick interplay. Moments later, Miloš Kerkez shot dangerously from a distance, but his pumice stone was eliminated by José Sá.

Nevertheless, the Portuguese performed the intervention of the first half in the 26th minute, when he famously exposed the stop of the escaping Justin Kluivert’s shot with his left hand. The result of Bournemouth’s activity came in the 37th minute. A cross from the left side was found by Semenyo on the edge of the small area, and with a powerful blow between the legs of the goalkeeper Sá, Andoni Iraola took the lead.

The picture of the game remained more or less unchanged after the change of sides and the big opportunities for the Třešní side continued to increase. Semenyo came close to increasing his team’s lead but, like stopper Marcos Senesi, he missed the space between the three posts from a good position shortly afterwards.

An explosion of joy at Molineux Stadium came in the 65th minute, but it was short-lived. Although Hwang shot past Mark Travers, the video referee discovered the previous foul and called off the goal. In the 79th minute, Kerkez indiscriminately brought down Matt Doherty, the head referee Stuart Attwell did not hesitate and sent the Hungarian defender to the showers prematurely. In the end, Kilman could have turned the great pressure of the Wolves into an equalizer, but even his goal could not count, this time for a millimeter offside.

The injury-plagued Wolves thus registered a defeat equal to the seventh competitive game in a row without a win. In the next round, they will welcome Luton on April 27, and Brighton will come to Bournemouth’s field a day later.
