Due to four yellow cards, coach Luboš Kozel, who led Baník before the current engagement, left Liberec. He was replaced by assistant Josef Petřík.

The guests started in Ostrava with a bang. Until recently, during his first league start for Liberec in the starting line-up, Baník Tetour hit the post from 20 meters in the 27th second of the match. Baník adopted an offensive concept and the result was interesting football for both sides. The home team then took over the reins and scored a goal in the 20th minute from the activity, which Ewerton scored from a penalty kick after a foul by Žambůrek na Buchta. He recorded his twelfth hit in the top league season.

Ostrava continued to be dangerous and in a short sequence they had the second goal on the feet of Kubal and then Jurošek, but the first one went wide from a turn and the second one was caught by the goalkeeper Vliegen. But the end of the half belonged to Liberec. In the 40th minute, goalkeeper Markovič made a reflexive save to equalize from Višinský, who shot sharply from 10 meters, and a minute later, after Fukal’s shot, he kicked the ball in front of the empty Blažek goal.

When the signal went out for Ostrava at the start of the second half and Kpozo headed it to 2-0 with his second goal of the league year after a short corner, it looked like Baník was headed for three points. The home team continued to be active, but then with laxity in defense they offered a reduction to the visitors and Tupta also took advantage of this in the 55th minute with a shot against the post. The Slovak striker scored the sixth goal of the season in the top league.

Open football produced more chances, and substitute Horský could quickly equalize after arriving on the field, but he hit Markovič’s arm from close range. In the 69th minute, however, Liberec was already celebrating, because Prebsl hit the front post after Tupt’s corner. He was among the top scorers for the second time in the league season and celebrated his 50th start in the top flight in style.

Nobody could accept a draw, the effort to win the match was evident from both teams. The home team pressed harder and in the 82nd minute, Adediran beat Vliegen from close range and with his head. However, the home joy was soon negated by the referee, who disallowed the goal due to offside.

Both teams are winless for the third round in a row. Ostrava has not lost four times in a row at home in the league against Liberec, but has beaten him there in only one of the last six matches. Slezáné won only one of the last 10 league matches in front of their own spectators and scored only 20 of the total 45 points in the season. Slovan won only one of the 15 matches in the year away from home in the top competition and won only 10 of the total 40 points there.
