After two days off, the hockey players of the Czech 18 team will start the quarter-final battle against the Slovaks on Thursday, May 2. The key duel of the world championship awaits them in Finland from 1:45 p.m. Czech time, broadcast live by ČT sport.

The progress of the basic group brought several moody events in the Czech camp. The satisfaction of the win over Switzerland was replaced by disappointment after a terrible entry against Canada, followed by a valuable and deserved scalp of the Swedes for two points, but then came the collapse with Kazakhstan.

However, another twist followed. The Swiss won a point against the Swedes, which after all awarded the Czech national team second place. And thus a more favorable deployment to the playoffs!

The Czechs challenge the third unit of the opposite group. That became the Slovaks, who put on a much better face after three defeats and swept the Norwegians by eleven goals. Coach David Čermák’s men do not have to move from Vantaa, they will start the federal derby on Thursday from 1:45 PM CET.

In the evening, the local arena will host the match between Canada and Latvia, and on the other hand, from 10 o’clock in the morning, the match for retention between Norway and Kazakhstan. This duel was somewhat expected in advance, however, both teams won one victory each in the group, so they were not far behind the rest of the field.

Espoo will first see the USA-Switzerland quarter-final and then the prestigious match between the home Finns and the Swedes. It is here that the championship will be finished, the battles for medals are scheduled for Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th May.
