Third trip to Germany and third shocking win. This can’t be a coincidence anymore! Pavol Langer once again silenced the home wrestler in the federal republic and will dare to triumph in Slovakia.
The yellow-black organization has already successfully established itself on German territory and has already organized its fourth event in the Frankfurt Festhalle. The main card started with a win by Matouš Kohout, who confirmed that the move to welterweight was a very good idea. Pavol Langer, another Octagon old-timer, was returning to the cage after a sudden loss to Karlos Vémola, so it was clear that this would mainly be about regaining lost self-confidence.
The “Cinderella of Slovakian MMA”, as Langer was nicknamed, did not enjoy his dream title fight very much. Nervousness consumed the likeable giant long before entering the cage, and the encounter with the “Terminator” itself lasted only seven seconds. Langer thus flushed two great wins over Xavier and Poppeck into the channel.
His next opponent has an interesting past in Polish KSW. After moving to the Octagon, he was able to defeat the Spaniard Toledo and lost to the British star Scott Askham only after three rounds on points. Now Marc Dousissis wanted to take full advantage of his opponent’s broken psyche and from the first seconds he started an overwhelming pressure. Langer admitted after the match that he was a little worried about the beginning of the duel and it was evident in his performance. Passive expression and backing down to the bone, that meant only one thing. Langer collected a good salvo and at one point looked like he was just waiting for the mercy shot.
As has been the case several times, the Slovak fighter was saved by his incredible resilience. In addition, he managed to hit a beautiful knee in the clinch on the mesh and suddenly the situation was the opposite. Dousiss was in trouble, but he did not show a similar amount of hardness and went to the ground, where Pavol easily reached him with a few punches. Even after this heady victory, he maintained his dignity and showed his opponent instant respect.
After the resurrection, the thirty-three-year-old fighter returned to the position of a hot favorite for a title shot. Rafael Xavier and Stephan Puetz, who were ahead of him in the rankings, ended their performance in the Octagon. A heady evening was enhanced for Langer by his breadwinner, who awarded his performance with a performance bonus for the evening.
