Daniel Sadil

The situation surrounding the titular partner, the newly established Association of First League Ice Hockey Clubs or the format of the intermingling competition. In an interview for Hokej.cz, Daniel Sadil talks about current events in connection with the first league.

What led you to the idea of starting a movement to bring together Chance League clubs?
Experiences. When I decided to end my involvement in club hockey a year ago, I decided that there was a need to build a movement that would represent the interests of first league clubs. Another thing is that the first league is currently the highest competition managed by the ČSLH, as the extra league is a separate competition through the management of the APK LH. From this point of view, too, it seemed important to me that the first league should have such an association.

Does it currently include all clubs?
There are currently thirteen of them. As for Chomutov, as a club that was promoted to the Chance League, I informed them by phone that this movement was created.

What does the staffing look like?
Pavel Hinner from Poruba was elected president, and Petr Neumann from Vsetín, Standa Tichý from Slavia, Martin Svoboda from Třebíč and Honza Pravda from Zlín were elected to the board of directors of the general meeting.

“Pavel Hinner from Poruba was elected president.”

What are your goals for the future?
We want to operate on a common basis with ČSLH. This means that we want to continue to be managed by the hockey association and therefore we will solve all the steps with the ČSLH.

Rumor has it that the title partner of the Premier League – the company Chance – is leaving. Can you confirm this?
Yes, we have been informed recently. In the coming months, we will be announced the new titular partner of the first league, and at the same time we will discuss with the association who will help us in this area.

Do you have an idea of how the first league should be presented through the media?
We will discuss this in the summer months. There are a lot of very talented and modern people in the first league who have visions of where we should move the competition in this regard. For example, I would name Jakub Mikulík from Frýdek-Místek, who helps me a lot in these matters. I believe that we will all do a piece of work together.

Especially in this season, the Chance League penetrated the screens of Czech Television. Do you plan to continue this?
Our intention is to get the Chance League on television to an even greater extent than before. We do not focus only on Czech Television, it can happen through other stations.

In the past, first league clubs did not have the leverage to influence the format of the playoff for promotion to the extra league. Will it change?
This is one of the main goals of our association. We are communicating with Martin Loukota and the APK LH board to find the best possible way for both parties. We want the format to be motivating for Premier League clubs. So that they know that if they win the first league, they have a real chance to advance to the extra league.

“We want the play-off format to be motivating for Premier League clubs.”

How will it be between the first and second league?
The second league is represented by the Association of Second League Clubs, the first league by the Association of First League Clubs and the extra league APK LH. I believe that we will all sit down together at the negotiating table and discuss these issues.

In the Czech Republic, it is often difficult to get everyone to pull together. Was it the same when the Association of Premier League Clubs was created?
I am a person who likes to communicate with people very much, so from the very beginning of this project I explained to my colleagues why it would be good to have an association that would represent the first league clubs. So there quickly became a consensus that we needed something like this.

What about financing?
The association of first league clubs is common. This means that all interested parties will participate in its financing. I would not like to go into details, but everything was agreed on the basis of the current statutes. We want a piece of work to be seen behind us at the end of the first season.
