The nomination includes a complete trio of goalkeepers from the NHL – Filip Gustavsson with Jesper Wallstedt from Minnesota and Samuel Ersson from Philadelphia. The defense will feature 2018 NHL draft pick Rasmus Dahlin of Buffalo, Erik Karlsson with Marcus Pettersson of Pittsburgh, Jonas Brodin of Minnesota and Victor Hedman of Tampa Bay, with whom he won the Stanley Cup in 2020 and 2021.

Offensively, the Swedes also have two-time Stanley Cup winner André Burakovsky from Seattle, who triumphed in 2018 with Washington and four years later with Colorado, Joel Eriksson Eko with Markus Johansson from Minnesota, Carl Grundström with Adrian Kemp from Los Angeles, Pontus Holmberg from Toronto , Anaheim’s Isac Lundeström, Buffalo’s Victor Olofsson, Detroit’s Lucas Raymond and San Jose’s Fabian Zetterlund.

There are four world champions in the Three Crowns selection and they are all NHL players. Brodin, Hedman and Eriksson Ek were at the triumph in 2017, the gold from the championship a year later is held by Gustavsson, who did not participate in the tournament then, and Kempe. Karlsson and Johansson have silver from the 2014 Sochi Olympics.

The 87th World Ice Hockey Championship is taking place in the term 10-26 May 2024 in the Czech Republic, the tournament will be divided between the cities of Prague and Ostrava.

Only after the Czech Games (Betano Hockey Games) in Brno last week, Kalsson, Hedman, Holmberg, Johansson, Grundström, Kempe and also striker Jesper Frödén from the team of the Swiss champion Zurich completed the team.

On the other hand, defenders Filip Berglund from Örebro, Oscar Fantenberg from Linköping, Patrik Nemeth from Bern, Jesper Sellgren from Luley and forwards Christoffer Ehn from Linköping, Alexander Holtz from New Jersey/NHL, Jonathan Lekkerimäki from Örebro, Joakim Nygard from Färjestad and Lukas Vejdemo left the squad from Leksand.

Defenseman Tim Heed from Ambri-Piotta and forwards Frödén, Max Friberg from Frölunda and Marcus Sörensen from Friborg have also started in the NHL. Without experience in major international events, defender Heed and forward Felix Unger Sörum from Leksand.

In preparation, the Swedes played four matches against Finland – they won 4:1 in Jyväskylä and lost 1:2 in overtime in Mikkeli, losing 0:2 and 0:3 in Linköping. They started playing at Czech Republic with a 2:1 win in Kloten over Switzerland, then in Brno they defeated the Czech Republic 2:0 and lost to Finland 3:4 after separate raids.

The Swedes will enter the championship on Friday from 20:20 against the United States of America, and in other matches of the basic group B in Ostrava they will face Poland, Germany, Kazakhstan, Latvia, France and Slovakia.
