Today, the government approved the draft law on an integrative social enterprise. Its goal is to set up comprehensive support and involvement of people with disabilities so that they can manage the transition to normal life.

For the first time, the legislative proposal is intended to supplement the existing support for persons with disabilities with support for the socially disadvantaged. Support is aimed at people who are long-term unemployed, after serving a sentence or, for example, fall into the category of 60+ years of age.

“The system cannot adequately respond to individual situations. For a long time, the Czech Republic has one of the highest recidivism rates in Europe, unfortunately it is often a closed cycle. That’s why this group of people is included,” says Minister Jurečka.

He considers it necessary to ensure social counseling in the form of personal accompaniment of such persons and the development of their abilities in order for the whole process to be successful. “By default, it is not taken into account, some employers do it out of their own proactivity.”

In addition to the special allowance for the socially disadvantaged, it will be possible for social enterprises to receive an incentive allowance if the person in question remains on the open labor market for 6-12 months.

The anticipated effectiveness of the law, if approved, is from January 1 next year.
