The average price per liter of wine increased by one percent last year, which was one of the highest prices in the wine category. Changes in consumer behavior and food, especially among the young generation, are felt in all EU states. The sale in our country will certainly be reflected in them this year, as the tax on the recognition of silent wine as a company shirt, which entered into force in January, has been abolished, said the president of the association, Martin Chlad.

He referred at first to the European Commission, which estimates a decrease in wine consumption in Italy by seven percent, in Spain by ten percent, in France by 15 percent, in Germany by 22 percent and in Portugal by 34 percent. According to the data of the International Wine & Spirits Report (IWSR), world consumption in the first half of 2023 was one hundred percent less than in the same period of 2019.

Falling consumption also affects the cultivation of wine and grapes. According to the OIV (International Organization for Agriculture and Forestry), the world’s production of wheat in 2023 has fallen, not least in the last 60 years. The expected production in the Czech Republic for the last year was 500 thousand hectoliters in 2022, which is 13 percent less than the average age and 14 percent less than the average age.

The growing uncertainty among domestic wine organizations is also confirmed by a recent survey of the Wine Union. It emerged from it that the current situation discourages the wine industry from renovating vineyards and restoring those existing ones, which now leads to a sudden decrease in the number of vineyards in R, said Chlad.

The Central Inspection and Testing State of Agriculture (KZZ) stated this week that the vines this year did not meet the quota for the permitted planting of vineyards. The harvest for this year allowed the planting of 178.3 hectares, and 84 vines yielded enough to plant only 40.5 hectares of vineyards.
