Actress Shannen Doherty is getting rid of her possessions, clearing out warehouses and houses so her mother has as little to worry about when she dies. The Beverly Hills 90210 star is battling breast cancer. She talked about it on her podcast.
Doherty is preparing for her death mainly because of her mother, who, according to her, is already having a hard time. “My priority right now is being a mom,” the actress said on Monday’s episode of her Let’s Be Clear podcast. “I know it will be hard for her if I die before she does,” she saddened.

Not wanting her mother to be burdened with too much, she decided to slowly get rid of her possessions. “There will be a lot on her already, so I want to make things as easy as possible for her. I don’t want her to have a lot of things to deal with. I don’t want her to have four warehouses full of furniture,” explained the show’s Brenda Walsh costar Beverly Hills 90210.
So the actress started sorting through her belongings, antiques and other items she had accumulated over the years in order to sell or donate them.
She had to give up her dream
Fifty-two-year-old Doherty, for example, has already cleared out her house in Tennessee, which was supposed to be a dream come true for her, because she wanted to raise horses there. “It was really hard and very emotional,” outlined the actress, who has stage four breast cancer.
“It felt like I was giving up on my dream of making a home there, building a house for me and my mom, and then expanding the horse barn,” she recounted devastated, adding that she planned to set up a shelter in Tennessee for horses abandoned by their owners because of their old age or health problems. “That was one of my dreams,” she said with tears in her eyes.
It creates memories
Through the difficult process of getting rid of her possessions, Doherty realized what was really important to her. Owning things doesn’t bring her as much joy as creating memories with mom and loved ones.
Thanks to the funds obtained, he can afford to travel more. “It allows me to travel more because I make money selling things,” she outlined. “I can build different memories and create them with people I like. I can take my mom on vacation because I have extra money. But at the same time, I do not touch the money that is in the estate and will ensure that all my loved ones are taken care of after my death,” pointed out the star of the series Witches.
Shannen Doherty was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015, Page Six magazine recalled. In 2017, the actress went into remission, but unfortunately the cancer returned two years later, in the fourth stage.
Last year, the actress announced that the malignant disease had spread to her brain and later to her bones.
