Passers-by and motorists managed to capture two horses on video. One of the animals was visibly bleeding.

Four of the injured are riders who were thrown from their saddles. The animals were apparently frightened by noise from a nearby construction site, The Telegraph reported. One horse crashed into a double-decker bus, breaking its front window. Another collided with a taxi.

One taxi driver said he was just outside Buckingham Palace when he heard the gallop. “I looked back and saw three or four horses. Two of them sprinted towards Trafalgar Square and one was covered in blood,” he said.

“I had two customers in the back seat so I was worried about them. Fortunately, the horses crossed the middle of the road and continued on, but very quickly,” added the taxi driver.

According to an employee of the bus company Toot Bus, there was complete confusion on the streets. “I saw horses charging from the bus station and running like mad. People ran around just to avoid them. It was total chaos,” said a man named Roland.

Meanwhile, the Army has confirmed the incident. “During a routine exercise, several military horses escaped in the morning. All have already been captured and returned to the stables,” the army spokesman confirmed according to the BBC server. He added that several people as well as horses were injured and that all were given appropriate medical or veterinary care.
