In Pardubice, he also caught the Czechoslovak league. In Třinec, he flashed twice during his career. He helped both teams to the final of the extra league, but the title was not destined for him. In 1994, he was not enough with Pardubice for Olomouc, with Třinec four years later for dominant Vsetín.
Where does Biegl’s heart lie before Sunday’s seventh extraliga final between Pardubice and Třinec? “I look at the final as an impartial spectator. I wish it to both teams. It would be best if both teams could claim the title. Maybe I wish Pardubice a little more,” said Biegl.
The East Bohemians have been waiting for the title for twelve years, while the Steelers are attacking for the fifth triumph in a row. “I don’t think that Pardubice will be under more pressure. Little things like an accidentally bounced puck or an unfortunate flow will be decisive. Maybe a random goal,” thinks the 54-year-old native of Hradec Králové.
The seventh match will decide the extra league final for the first time in nine years. The last time there was also Třinec, which in 2015 was not enough at home 0:2 against Litvínov. Another parallel is that even then the extra-league final was followed by the domestic championship. “It’s fifty-fifty. It will decide who will pursue it more,” perceives Sport.cz editor Martin Kézr.
That “little thing” could be Miloš Roman from Třinec, for example. His goal decided the seventh game of the quarterfinals and the seventh game of the semifinals. “Those guys have experienced the winning feeling several times already. Appetite grows with food, who wouldn’t want to win for the fifth time? This is the engine that drives the company to success. They never give up,” Biegl appreciates.
But he also talked about his playing career in Příklep. About the extra league finals, which he was a part of, or the foreign stint in Slovan Bratislava. He also revealed what he does after the end of his active career.
