German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier will start a two-day visit to the Czech Republic today, and he will be received by President Petr Pavel at Prague Castle. They should talk about energy or the situation in Ukraine. A joint statement to the media is planned after the private meeting and negotiations of the delegations. Subsequently, the two presidents will honor the memory of the victims of the shooting at the Faculty of Arts of Charles University in Prague, where 14 people, including students and teachers, lost their lives last December.

Steinmeier and Pavlo should discuss, for example, economic relations, energy and strengthening of bilateral military-technical cooperation. They will also talk about the current situation in Ukraine or the Middle East. They should also focus on the upcoming elections to the European Parliament.

On Tuesday, Steinmeier, alongside Pavel, will deliver a speech at the conference celebrating 20 years of the Czech Republic in the European Union at Prague Castle, in the afternoon he will meet with Prime Minister Petr Fiala (ODS) at the Straka Academy. The program also includes a meeting with representatives of Czech Jewish communities, a walk in the footsteps of Franz Kafka or the international musical and cultural project of the Czech Republic and Germany Musica non grata, organized by the National Theater and financially supported by the German Embassy.
