Thirty-three-year-old YouTuber and paraglider Anthony Vella was testing the BGD Luna 3 glider over the Texas desert when it crashed at a speed of about 80 kilometers per hour from a height of about 30 meters above the ground. He suffered multiple fractures, but his life is out of danger. Metro and Daily Mail wrote about it.

Vella was testing the BGD Luna 3 glider over Enchanted Rock State Natural Area while filming. From his hospital bed, he retroactively published the entire record on the Internet, including the horrifying accident that could have cost him his life.

“Come on baby!” the man on the recording shouts excitedly as he flies about 80 kilometers per hour about 30 meters above the ground. But after a while it unexpectedly crashes. Entangled in the glider, he immediately asks the voice assistant Siri to call 911, writes the Metro newspaper.

“Help me please. I crashed my machine,” Vella says to the dispatcher, who asks if he’s bleeding or if he’s suffered any other injuries. Vella didn’t notice that her whole body was broken because he told her he didn’t think so. He was wearing a thick jacket.

After two minutes, a bystander working nearby noticed the man lying in the sand. However, since he spoke Spanish, the injured YouTuber had to continue communicating with the dispatcher, the Daily Mail pointed out.

Shortly afterwards, the man was freed from the glider by his friend who had arrived, who called his wife. “The glider crashed and I have a broken arm. I’ll be fine love don’t worry” Vella said. “What do you mean, don’t worry?” said his horrified wife, walking after him.

Vella’s right arm was shattered. The ambulance arrived at the scene in half an hour, the paramedics sewed up his injured arm and gave him morphine. At the hospital, they discovered that he had suffered other fractures to his neck, back and pelvis. But they stabilized his condition.

The man on the recording explains that the accident happened because he missed a small knot while checking his glider before takeoff. The braking of the machine twisted it, similar to what happens when a tension knot is stuck.

But he doesn’t blame the machine. He praised him and declared that he had never driven such a fast glider in his life. He even admitted that he was momentarily anxious about the speed. He urged other flying enthusiasts to check their gliders properly.
