An accident involving a cyclist that occurred on Friday, April 26 in Vidnav in Jesenice had tragic consequences. A rescue helicopter intervened at the scene, but the cyclist succumbed to his injuries in hospital.

The serious accident happened sometime between 5 and 6 p.m. “According to the initial information, the 59-year-old cyclist was supposed to be riding in the direction from Vidnava to the village of Štachlovice, while he apparently did not adjust his driving speed to the technical condition of the road and the technical condition of the bicycle. When passing through a right-hand bend with a steep descent, he should have gone to the left onto the unpaved grass shoulder of the road and subsequently fell into the adjacent grassy ditch with his bicycle,” police spokeswoman Ivana Skoupilová described the circumstances of the tragic accident.
The air ambulance helicopter transported the man to the Faculty Hospital in Olomouc. Unfortunately, he died there the same day as a result of his injuries.
The police are still investigating the circumstances of the tragic accident.
