Hockey striker David Cienciala started the extra-league season in the Pardubice jersey, eventually becoming the executioner of Dynamo in the dramatic final. At the beginning of the second overtime of Sunday’s seventh battle in the east of Bohemia, Třinec won 2:1 and started the celebration of the fifth championship in a row for the Steelers.

“That’s the hockey life. It happened in January that I learned on the bus on the way to the match that I was finishing in Pardubice. It was a total shock to me. Moving again to Třinec… But we were moving home, that was easy. In addition, the woman was nine months pregnant. But somehow we managed it and a healthy baby was born. And now I can celebrate another title. Unreal,” said David Cienciala to journalists immediately after the masterful final.

Paradoxically, when he captured his first career title in 2019, he became a dad for the first time. “That’s when our little one was born. These are seriously unreal feelings,” explained Cienciala. “But I won’t be adding more children,” he added with a smile.

He dealt with Dynamo at the best possible moment. “Before the second overtime, we thought we would decide it. Marko Daňo threw it there perfectly and I went after it. I don’t even know how the goal fell and what I hit the puck with. I saw that the puck went over the goal line, but I wasn’t sure if that would count. At first I didn’t even believe it, but then guys started jumping on me, so it dawned on me. An indescribable feeling, an incredible joy,” explained Cienciala.

“Even now it gives me chills when I consider that we played three series for seven games. Just what we did against such a strong Sparta in the semi-finals, now with Pardubice in the final. It was about one mistake, we were happier. It didn’t matter which one of us scored the goal. These are incredible feelings. I have no words for how it turned out that we were able to do it,” Cienciala pointed out.

The steel fist has ruled for five years. TřinecCop also beat Dynamo. Cienciala decided

“I am very happy that I have another title. We had an incredibly tough journey in the playoffs and we showed character. No one really stood out. We did it as a team. We went for it, hats off,” said the forward, who returned to his native Třinec in January in exchange for Richard Pánik.

Třinec grabbed the third seven-game streak in a row. “It was very difficult, 21 games. But we did really well as a team. Fatigue went away. We all stepped at one hundred percent,” added Cienciala, adding that he was already looking forward to the championship celebrations. “How will we celebrate? Brutal,” concluded David Cienciala.
