Kings Notes:

  • Quinton Byfield leads the postseason in plus/minus with a +5 rating. Byfield is tied at the top of the list with the Florida Panthers’ Carter Verhaeghe.
  • Anze Kopitar skated in his 95th career Stanley Cup Playoff game on Friday night, breaking a tie with Luc Robitaille (94) for sole possession of the most playoff games played in Kings franchise history. Spread over nine postseasons and 17 different playoff series, the captain has registered 80 points (25-55=80) in those 95 contests, trailing only Robitaille (41-48=89) and Wayne Gretzky (29-65=94) for the franchise record for most points in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
  • With his second goal of the playoffs on Friday, Drew Doughty enters Game 4 with a two-game goal streak. Doughty’s streak breaks a four-way tie with Alec Martinez (2x), Rob Blake (2x) and Steve Duchesne (2x) for the most such playoff goal streaks by a defenseman in Kings history.
  • Mikey Anderson picked up his third assist of the playoffs during Game 3, extending his postseason point streak to a third game (1-2=3). With his trio of performances, Anderson becomes the youngest defenseman in franchise history to record a three-game point streak to open the Stanley Cup Playoffs and just the third defenseman in Kings franchise history to have notched a point in each of the first three games of the postseason, joining Jake Muzzin (2016, 1-2=3) and Jay Wells (1987, 1-3=4).
  • Anderson also became the first Kings defenseman 24-years-old or younger to open the Stanley Cup Playoffs with points in back-to-back games since Rob Blake (2-0=2, 1992 DSF vs. EDM). Anderson is just the fourth blueliner in franchise history to begin a postseason with a point streak before turning 25 years-old, also joining Robert Palmer (1-2=3, 1980 Preliminary Round vs. NYI) and Steve Duchesne (2x, last: 0-3=3 1990 DSF vs. CGY).

Oilers Notebook:

  • Dating back to the 2022 playoffs, the Oilers are 5-2 at Crypto.com Arena.
  • Zach Hyman notched two goals on Friday in Game 3, adding to his NHL-leading six goals in the playoffs.
  • Connor McDavid leads the NHL in points in the playoffs with nine (1-8=9) through three games. McDavid recorded his first goal of the series on Friday in Game 3.
  • The Oilers have outshot the Kings 116-91 in the first three games of the series.
  • Evan Bouchard ranks third among defensemen in points in the playoffs. All five of Bouchard’s points have come by way of the assist.
  • Heading into Game 4, goaltender Stuart Skinner is averaging 3.31 goals against per game and has a .890 save percentage.

Players to Watch:

Kings: Adrian Kempe, who enters Game 4 with four points (3-1=4) through the first three games of the series, including his third career multi-goal game (2-0=2) in Game 2 last Wednesday night (also Game 1 of 2023 R1 & Game 5 of 2022 R1). Kempe, who shares the team-lead in points with Quinton Byfield (0-4=4), is the first Kings player to score at least one goal in each of the team’s first two games from the start of a postseason since 2014 (Trevor Lewis & Jake Muzzin). With his trio of goals, Kempe is the seventh player in franchise history to score three goals within the first two games in a playoff year.

Oilers: Evander Kane, who was promoted to the second line alongside Leon Draisaitl and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins for Game 3 and recorded two points. Kane tallied a deflection goal, picked up a primary assist and recorded four shots on goal during the Oilers 6-1 victory.
