The general editor of NET4GAS, Andreas Rau, declared the year as the toughest in the company’s history. The reason is the unprecedented and dramatic change in gas flows to Europe, which was caused by the attack on Ukraine and the complete collapse of payments by our main trading partner. Thanks to our immediate questionable measures and the great commitment and support of all NET4GAS employees, we managed to mitigate the negative impacts at least to a certain extent, said Rau.
According to the company’s data, total natural gas transportation reached ten billion cubic meters in 2023. Compared to 2022, the total transport thus decreased by 20.8 billion cubic meters of gas. According to Rau, the decline was mainly caused by the absence of Russian gas transport through the country R and other changes in gas flows to Europe, which are a geopolitical consequence of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Domestic gas transportation decreased by 0.7 billion cubic meters to 6.8 billion cubic meters last year. According to the company, the above-average temperatures and ongoing consumer disputes have had an effect in Esk.
According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MPO), the economic result is not surprising given the decrease in transport, and was therefore included in all the expert opinions, from which the decision on the acquisition of NET4GAS was based. According to the department, the current decrease in transport is the result of the comparative weight of Russia’s Gazprom, from whom the company wants to recover K70 billion in arbitration. In the future, the MPO is concerned about the increased production of electricity and heat from gas with a return increase in the volume of transport.
The purchase of the NET4GAS company is a long-term investment motivated by the expected increase in the volume of gas transportation through the Czech Republic and, at the same time, the opportunity to invest in the development of this gas infrastructure so that it corresponds to further developments in the field of energy, for example, from the point of view of potential for the development of vodka, the ministry said. According to AD, the company had nine billion crowns at its disposal by the end of 2023.
