It has brightened significantly in recent weeks. There are practically only two adepts for the fact that their name will be heard on Thursday when it is announced which of the drivers will complete the start list of the race. It would be a big surprise if it wasn’t one of the pair Václav Milík – Adam Bednář. The clash of generations…
“We want to select a driver who will have a real chance to score points in the race,” he announced in advance, interesting for the home audience.
The Prague Extraliga race in mid-April could give a more significant indication of who to assign to the starting line-up alongside Kvěch, the first Czech permanent GP participant in years, who was long in the game for the semi-final eight during the series’ opening weekend in Croatia.
The 30-year-old Václav Milík from Pardubice did poorly, lost a point with Artjom Laguta, but defeated the star Slovakian Martin Vaculík.
However, there was no duel with Bednář during the extra-league race. The 16-year-old, for whom Markéta is his home track, was able to brazenly mix up the order of some rides, his ferocity amazes and attracts not only domestic spectators to the stands.
Milík, however, already confirmed his qualities as a wild card at Markéta, reaching the grades in 2017, but he also managed to burn out. In other races at the beginning of the season in Britain and Poland, he succeeds alternately.
Teenager Bednář does not have that many starts this year, but as a member of the academy sponsored by the Polish world champion Zmarzlik, he is credited with a great future.
Daniel Klíma, Eduard Krčmář and Jan Macek are mentioned as other candidates for the wild card – but only marginally. Rather, one of them may appear in one of the two substitute positions.
The cast for Prague will be revealed on Thursday.
