DEICHMANN closed the 2023 business year in the Czech Republic successfully. With a turnover of 3.1 billion crowns and 3.7 million pairs sold, the results are at the level of the previous year. DEICHMANN thus confirmed its position as a leader in the Czech retail footwear market. The company currently operates 115 stores and an online store in the Czech Republic. Long-term growth also has a positive effect on the number of employees. At the end of 2023, the company had about 1,200 employees, i.e. 40 more than the previous year.

Last year, the company celebrated its 20-year anniversary on the Czech market, and the year 2023 thus became an important milestone in its history.

An excellent price-performance ratio, a wide range of brands and fashion trends – these are the three attributes with which DEICHMANN has scored points on the Czech market for two decades as a retailer of footwear for the whole family. And last year was no different. In addition, customers can always count on low prices, both in stores and online.

Thanks to the fashion range, successful campaigns and related events, DEICHMANN was able to impress lovers and shoe lovers in 2023. With new foreign and licensed brands such as Rieker or Bugatti, the company then managed to reach other groups of customers. In addition, it has also had brands such as Esprit, Crocs, Tom Tailor, Skechers or Bench on offer for some time.

Sports, at DEICHMANN, the already established brands Adidas, Puma, Nike and Fila continue to play an important role for customers. These meaningfully supplement the offer of own brands and have the merit that DEICHMANN appeals to customers across generations.

Shopping at DEICHMANN should above all be a joy and fun. That is why the largest shoe retailer in Europe is also investing in an attractive network of stores with modern equipment. The new store concept is characterized by a modern look, generous sales space, soft colors and plenty of space dedicated to sports shoes. In the Czech Republic, 10 stores have already been built in this new concept. In total, 2 stores were opened last year and 8 were modernized.

This year, 3 new stores are expected, and another 12 will be rebuilt under the new concept. The customer service that customers are used to in stores is complemented by digital and omnichannel services. These include shopping apps, and in 2024 there are also plans to introduce Click and Collect and Ship To Home, which is home delivery of goods ordered in a store.

DEICHMANN gets involved

Helping people in need is part of the mission of the DEICHMANN company, which is in the spirit of the slogan: “The company must serve the people.” In the Czech Republic, this company therefore supports DEICHMANN – a charitable association. Donations are used for

aid in the field of children’s education, to support regions affected by disasters or within the framework of development projects in Moldova and Tanzania. In addition, social and charitable projects were financially supported, such as the Diakonie ČCE in Klobouky near Brno, the Diocesan Charity Brno or Hospice St. Elizabeth in Brno.

Thanks to top brands and top prices, DEICHMANN is growing even in its 111th year of existence

DEICHMANN in the Czech Republic is a subsidiary of the DEICHMANN SE group. In the past business year, it achieved a gross turnover of 8.7 billion euros (7.4 billion euros net turnover) in 34 countries. Adjusted for currency effects, the increase in turnover thus reaches more than 7%. Worldwide, 184 million pairs of shoes were sold in the DEICHMANN Group’s stores and online stores in 2023 (1.4% more than in 2022). As of December 31, 2023, the company operated approximately 4,700 stores (2022: nearly 4,600) and 41 online stores and had over 49,000 employees (2022: approximately 48,000).

“For the DEICHMANN group, the year 2023 was full of challenges, but also of success,” emphasized Heinrich Deichmann, Chairman of the Board of Directors of DEICHMANN SE. “Our collection
and the assortment of top brands was able to appeal to customers and convince them with a good price-performance ratio. Thanks to this, we managed to grow both in stores and online, although the general trend is rather the opposite. Despite unfavorable conditions such as high inflation, reductions in customer purchases and changing purchasing preferences, the DEICHMANN Group managed to increase its turnover by more than seven percent to 8.7 billion euros in 2023. Also when converted to sales area, i.e. within our existing stores, we were able to increase turnover by five percent. This is an excellent result that we have achieved at an international level thanks to the cooperation with great teams in sales, logistics, management and administration.”

Against the background of economic results, large-scale investments of around 374 million euros are also planned in 2024, for example in modern stores with attractive equipment and omnichannel services. For the year 2024, around 450 new and remodeled stores are currently expected within the entire group.

The DEICHMANN family company was founded in 1913 in Essen, Germany, where it is still based today.

“We are synonymous with continuity and reliability and we have been here for people for 111 years this year. We have a clear position on the market, we offer a large selection of footwear for the whole family and the best price-performance ratio. This is very attractive for customers even in times of crisis, or just in them,” emphasized Heinrich Deichmann.

DEICHMANN SE, based in Essen (Germany), was founded in 1913
and is wholly owned by the founder’s family. The company is the leader in the European footwear market and is active in more than 30 countries around the world. It employs more than 49,000 workers and operates approximately 4,700 stores and 41 online stores. Except for stores
