Prague – Fuel prices in the Czech Republic fell after more than a month of price increases. The price of Natural 95 gasoline in the past week fell by 21 halers to an average of 40.19 crowns per liter, diesel is 61 halers cheaper, on Wednesday it cost an average of 38.61 crowns per liter. This is according to data from CCS, which tracks prices. According to analysts, fuel prices will continue to fall.

Analysts expect a more significant discount for diesel. “Its price should look towards CZK 38 per liter in the coming days. The price of gasoline should stagnate or become cheaper by only a few pennies in the coming days,” said Purple Trading analyst Petr Lajsek. He attributes the slower movement of gasoline prices to the demand for it, which traditionally rises as summer approaches. Another factor, according to Lajsko, is the restriction of the export of Russian gasoline, which is therefore missing from the market.

Despite the start of the motoring season, Trinity Bank economist Lukáš Kovanda also expects fuel prices to drop. According to him, the main reason is the drop in oil prices in recent days. According to him, diesel could become cheaper by approximately 50 halters per liter in the next seven days, and gasoline by approximately 30 halers.

The cheapest gasoline is filled by drivers in the South Bohemian region, where a liter costs 39.63 kroner on average. Diesel is the cheapest in the Ústí Region, a liter is sold there for an average of 37.56 crowns. On the other hand, the most expensive fuel is offered by pumps in Prague, where a liter of gasoline costs an average of 40.80 crowns. Diesel will cost 39.67 crowns per liter at gas stations in the capital.

In a year-on-year comparison, gasoline is now about 2.80 crowns more expensive per liter than a year ago, while motorists paid about 5.80 crowns less for diesel at that time.
