Over the weekend, the whole nation was shocked by the unexpected news of the death of actress Simona Postlerová. Just a day before her death, the actress was active and even rehearsed a production of Lenka Lagronova’s Terezka in the theater on Saturday. A day later, the police discovered the lifeless body of the artist in her apartment in Vinohrady.

Simona Postlerová was born on November 9, 1964 in Pilsen to parents Jana and Alexander, both of whom worked in the film industry.

Her father was a director and her mother an actress, which is why Simona knew from childhood that one day she would stand on stage and in front of the camera herself.

Postlerová first graduated from grammar school, which she successfully completed and then entered Prague’s DAMU.

From 1992, she got an engagement at the Na Vinohrady Theater and soon the first offers for films and television came.

The actress appeared, for example, in the TV series Boys and Girls, Hospoda, Chetnik Humoresky, Hospital on the Edge of the City After Twenty Years, Ordinance in the Rose Garden, The Last Season, Ugly Katka, in the films Night of the Shepherds, Castle in Bohemia, Experts and in many other television productions .

In addition to acting, Simona Postlerová was also a great and respected dubber and reciter. In 2002, she even won the František Filipovský Award for the best female acting performance in dubbing, specifically for Emma Thompson in the movie Vtip.

Her husband was the guitarist Zdeněk Hrášek, with whom she lived a long and happy marriage until his death in 2016, when he succumbed to malignant cancer.

In 2006, doctors discovered eye cancer in him, and later he fell ill with liver cancer, which he bravely fought for three years.

The son suffered from autism

The couple had a daughter, Jana Magdaléna, and a son, Damián, who suffers from autism. “My son is extremely smart. He started reading at the age of five, he enjoyed poems the most and listened to classical music a lot. Although very quietly, he sensed her. Around the age of thirteen, however, everything changed. Instead of 1s, he started wearing 5s from school, stopped talking, was apathetic and once collapsed during breakfast. I thought he had a heart attack, he was immediately taken to the Motol hospital. There was a round of psychiatric and psychological examinations, medication and stays in the Bohnice psychiatric hospital,” the actress once confided in an interview for Radiožurnál.

In the end, it was revealed that Damián suffers from an autism spectrum disorder and has been diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome. “But on top of that, there’s another slightly worse psychiatric illness,” added Postlerová, who always took care of her son and tried to be the best possible mother to him.

The news of the popular star’s death was very shocking mainly because it was completely unexpected. Just a day before her death, Simona was full of energy and rehearsing for a play.

“On Saturday, May 4, she rehearsed Terezka in the forthcoming production of Lenka Lagronova’s play. The shocking news of her death came less than 24 hours later,” said the Theater in Vinohrady, where Postlerová was a long-time and popular member of the troupe.
