Through the CSSS, the state pays money to mothers on maternity leave and to fathers on paternity leave. In case of illness, it offers a sickness and disability pension, and in old age, a retirement pension. And he offers help even if one of your loved ones is dying. But many people are fumbling. He does not know how and where to apply, and what is necessary for the application. They need someone to discuss their concerns and options with. And that’s exactly what the Flash Experts on the phone event is here for.

It is not possible without a request
The treasury is not open to everyone. In order to draw benefits, it is necessary to have »worked out«. Simply put, to work or do business and to pay social security insurance premiums from earnings to the state coffers. In addition, it is necessary to apply for money. It is not enough to »just« give birth to a baby or become a father, grow old or fall ill. The basis is the application and its approval, only then it is possible to obtain a certain amount of money.
Maternity leave for »contractual women«
Work and maternity leave go hand in hand. However, not only mothers employed on a traditional employment contract are entitled to it. It can also be obtained by women who work on a work activity agreement (DPČ) with a gross monthly income of at least CZK 4,000, and on a work performance agreement (DPP) with a gross monthly income of over CZK 10,000. Female entrepreneurs (self-employed) have voluntary health insurance by law.
Age alone is not enough
It is only late that some people find out how much their old-age pension has been affected by informal work or years in the records of the labor office. And what in youth seems several light years away, after fifty approaches by leaps and bounds. However, due to the unfulfilled duration of the insurance (simplified years of service), it is possible to lose the old-age pension, or to wait a long time for it.
Who will (not) reach the retirement pension
The long-term unemployed or people whose employment cannot be counted in the “worked” years are most often not eligible for the old-age pension due to the incomplete duration of the insurance. These are mostly small-scale jobs or agreements to carry out work, or even work “under the hood”.
On the contrary, people who were registered at the labor office for only a short time, were on parental leave or cared for elderly parents need not be afraid. These periods are called replacement periods of insurance and it is possible to count them (some fully, others only partially), even if the insurance premium was not paid for them.
The amount of the pension will be revealed by the application
It is not necessary to go to the office in person to apply for a pension. The application can already be submitted online via the CSSZ ePortal internet service. The advantage is that the application also includes an informative estimate of the amount of the old-age pension according to the chosen retirement date. So you can choose the most convenient date.
Pregnant women are under protection
Many mothers-to-be have no idea that pregnant women are protected by the extended protection period. Thus, even women who are not currently working, but are within the protection period from their last job, are entitled to “maternity leave”. For pregnant women, the protection period is extended up to 180 days. It is shorter only if the employment was also shorter – for example, if the previous employment lasted 30 calendar days, the protection period will only last 30 calendar days.
Take care of a loved one at the expense of the state
An operation or an injury to a loved one can turn life upside down. However, if he cannot take care of himself after being discharged from the hospital, you can take care of him with the help of long-term nursing care.
- the patient you will be caring for must have been hospitalized for at least 4 days »in a row« and his condition requires care for at least 30 days
- you can care for both relatives and loved ones with whom you share a common household
- the need for long-term care is decided by the attending physician in the hospital at the patient’s request
- the terminally ill are exempt from staying in hospital, their attending physician decides for them
- it is also possible to apply for nursing allowance retroactively, within 8 calendar days from the end of hospitalization
- you can care for a sick person for a maximum of 90 calendar days and you are entitled to 60% of the day for each day of care. except foundation.
