The accident happened an hour before midnight in Jáchymovská street. “The 21-year-old driver of a Škoda passenger vehicle apparently did not adjust his speed while passing through a left-hand bend and the vehicle skidded,” said police spokesman Jan Bílek.

After hitting the concrete barriers and breaking through them, the car ended up on the slope.

Police officers from the Karlovy Vary District Department in the Rybáře district were the first to arrive at the scene, and they immediately started CPR on the 21-year-old passenger, which they continued until the arrival of the ambulance.

“Unfortunately, the twenty-one-year-old passenger suffered injuries incompatible with life, from which he died on the spot,” stated Bílek.

During the subsequent orientation breath test, the driver inhaled 2.03 per thousand.

Karlovy Vary criminal investigators are investigating the case, the driver is suspected of manslaughter due to negligence and endangerment under the influence of an addictive substance. The exact cause and circumstances of the accident are subject to further investigation.
