Zelenskyi in danger. The Russian FSB wanted to assassinate the Ukrainian leader

--

Among the exposed agents were two representatives of the state security office, which takes care of the protection of the most important offices. The Russians wanted them to find someone among the members of the president’s security who would be willing to take Zelensky hostage and assassinate him.

In addition to the Ukrainian president, the agents were supposed to seek the life of SBU director Malyuk or HUR military intelligence chief Kyryl Budanov, whom they allegedly planned to kill before the Orthodox Easter.

According to the SBU, the plans included, for example, the fact that one of the recruited collaborators would monitor the movements of an unnamed protected person and pass information about him to the Russians, who, based on this information, were supposed to target him and launch a strike with the help of missiles and drones.

The detainees are suspected of treason and preparation of a terrorist attack, for which they face life imprisonment. “The terrorist act, which was supposed to be a gift for Putin’s inauguration, was actually a failure of the Russian secret services,” noted Maljuk, who also pointed out that Russia is a strong and experienced enemy that should not be underestimated.

Last week, Russia issued an arrest warrant for Ukrainian President Zelensky, the Russian state agency TASS reported on Saturday, citing an entry in the police database.

The arrest warrant was issued by the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs. The relevant record appeared in the police database, according to which the Ukrainian president is a wanted person on suspicion of violating an unspecified article of the Russian criminal code.
