Canadian police arrested an unidentified man on Wednesday on suspicion of trying to break into rapper Drake’s home in north Toronto. The incident, which was reported by the BBC news company, happened just a day after someone shot a security guard outside the same house.

The news comes as a public battle of words rages between the Canadian star and another world pop music giant, American Kendrick Lamar. In recent weeks, the pair have been exchanging offensive songs in which they put each other down and accuse each other of various wrongdoings, including domestic violence.

Lamar released a track last week saying people like Drake “should die.”

No evidence has yet emerged that this week’s incidents are related to the dispute. Police have not yet announced a connection between the two incidents at Drake’s home, and it is unclear whether the artist, whose real name is Aubrey Graham, was at home at the time.

On Wednesday, police responded to a residence in the luxury Bridle Path neighborhood around 2:00 p.m. local time (8:00 p.m. CET). She arrived at the scene on the basis of a report that someone was trying to trespass on the property. The person ended up in custody and was referred to doctors for suspected mental problems, police said.

On Tuesday night, someone fired from a car in front of the same residence, seriously injuring a security guard. He was unconscious when police arrived and had to undergo surgery immediately, Canadian news company CBC reported. Police did not immediately arrest any suspects or provide information on a possible motive for the shooting.

Drake’s home north of downtown Toronto is featured in the image Lamar attached to his latest track, Not Like Us, the BBC noted. The Canadian star calls his residence “the embassy” and mentions it in his work. The gate to the building is twice as tall as the maximum height allowed by the city, which the authorities have allowed in consideration of the security needs of the owner.
