Dozens of dead were discovered by Palestinian authorities at the Shifa hospital in the Gaza Strip after tanks and vehicles of Israeli troops left the facility following the strike. This was stated today by the Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip, which is under the control of the Palestinian movement Hamas, the AFP agency wrote.

Israeli troops launched a raid on the hospital two weeks ago. Army vehicles withdrew from the compound early this morning, according to an AFP journalist and witnesses at the scene. But the Israeli army has not yet confirmed the withdrawal.

“Dozens of martyrs’ bodies, some in a state of decomposition, were found in and around the Šífa hospital,” the ministry said in a press release. In the statement, he writes that the Israeli troops set fire to the hospital building during the withdrawal and the area is “significantly” damaged.

Israeli troops entered the Shifa hospital, the largest and one of the few still functioning medical facilities in the isolated Palestinian territory, the day before last Monday. Since then, they have been searching the vast complex, which Israel claims is connected to a network of underground tunnels and serves as a base for fighters from Hamas and other Islamist groups. Both Hamas and the medical staff deny that they are abusing the hospital grounds for military purposes.
