Lidl upset the Czech Republic. He started a big news that no one understands. Customers are furious

--

Although it might seem to you that there is nothing much to think about when it comes to selling food and other goods, the opposite is true. Retail chains are actually companies that have to constantly innovate. If they did not do so, they would soon end up at the back of the peloton and would not be able to stand up in the fierce competition.

An unpleasant experience

Sometimes news is to the benefit of customers, other times rather to the seller himself. Understandably, he tries to camouflage everything by saying that he does it for the people, but in reality he can solve some of his own internal problems, or realize significant savings.

That’s exactly what seems to be happening at Lidl right now. This is because he launched considerable changes that directly affect the customer experience at the store, and not exactly in a positive way. “I recently did a big shopping in Lidl. When I was already approaching the cash register, I found out that none of them had a green light and they were all closed. That surprised me because I wasn’t used to that kind of thing here. There were always at least two cash registers, but usually more,” Mr. Roman from Tanvald recounts his experiences.

So he approached a passing saleswoman to ensure that one of the cash registers was opened, where he could put out the purchased goods. “But she laconically told me that she would not do that and that I should go to the self-service checkout. So I went and marked my purchase there for twenty minutes,” describes Mr. Roman. “I’m telling you, if they do this to me again, I’ve been there for the last time.

Similar experiences are reported by customers from all over the Czech Republic. And even Lidl itself admits that it is experimenting with this model. It is said that it closes the main checkout area at less frequent times and tries to process customers through self-service checkouts.

It’s not optimal

However, he admits that this should not be the case for large purchases, which are difficult to handle at self-service checkouts. But in reality it doesn’t work very well, and when the manned cash registers are closed, they are simply closed.

Regardless of the fact that it should not be up to customers to search around the store for saleswomen to mark their purchase. In this case, the shopping experience goes down very quickly and people prefer to choose another store in the future.

It is interesting that Lidl was very late in introducing self-service checkouts. And now they are trying to promote them in a similar way. This is happening at a time when, for example, abroad, on the contrary, they are already retreating, as customers have come up with all sorts of tricks to get around them.
