Poland on Saturday condemned cyber attacks attributed to the Russian-controlled APT28 group on Germany and the Czech Republic, saying it had also been targeted by them. The ministry added that due to the continuous growth of threats in cyberspace, the country is actively working to protect critical infrastructure, build resilience and strengthen cyber defenses.
Citing information from intelligence services, the Czech Foreign Ministry announced on Friday that the APT28 group, which is associated with the Russian military secret service GRU, has been targeting Czech institutions with cyber attacks since last year.
The attacks exploited a previously unknown vulnerability in Microsoft Outlook.
Germany also announced attacks in connection with the Russian group APT28. According to the Federal Ministry of the Interior, the attacks were aimed at the governing Social Democracy (SPD), but also at German companies in the fields of logistics, armaments, aviation and computer technology.
