“One of my closest political collaborators, a politician who played a significant role in the creation of the Czech poly-footpath authentic right and a co-founder of the ODS,” ex-president Václav Klaus also remembered Mack. In the era of the ODS, Macek was associated with several scandals, but at the same time he was a key ally of Václav Klaus in the era of the “Sarajevo assassination” of Ivan Pilip and Jan Ruml. According to many, it was his support in key moments that decided that the ODS remained on the side of Václav Klaus.

After leaving politics, the way he commented on political events on the Visible Macek blog inspired respect for his intelligence and fairness. May the earth be easy for him,” commented commentator and analyst Štěpán Kotrba.
“Mirek was an educated, very intelligent person with great judgment and great insight. His wide range from literature to philosophy, aesthetics, politics, gastronomy to jazz music was simply unreal. I respected him very much because I have not met many people like him in my life.
