The automaker officially confirmed the construction of the Kia EV9 GT model just in between speeches during an event focused on business and sales results. “Gé-těčko” promises a huge portion of performance and acceleration from standstill to 100 km/h in under 4 seconds. All this in a car with a curb weight of over 2.5 tons…
It sounds like absolute nonsense, but the demands of today’s customers are indeed diverse. And if someone wants to buy a bloated family SUV for seven passengers, why not indulge them? The Kia EV9 GT will be unveiled in January 2025, and it should also appear on our roads within the next year.
The new product is supposed to derive a large portion of its power from two electric motors. In addition to a greater number of horses, the creators also promise to strengthen the braking system and other tuning of the suspension. In one breath, however, the brand adds that the GT is not a sports vehicle (even in the case of the smaller EV6 GT), but rather a very nimble touring version.

The current highlight of the Kia EV9 is the GT-Line version, which has two electric motors with a total output of 384 horsepower and 700 newton meters of torque. Such a car accelerates from standstill to 100 km/h in 5.3 seconds and goes up to 200 km/h. But it also weighs something, depending on the equipment from 2,569 to 2,674 kilograms.
The battery of the electric car should remain the same, i.e. 99.8 kWh will still be usable. Engineers have not yet mentioned other parameters, including range. The current peak promises up to 505 kilometers according to the WLTP, in the case of a more powerful car it will logically be a little less. But let us be surprised, we will be wiser in a few months.

In addition to the flagship, Kia also announced other news. A rejuvenated EV6 will arrive in the second quarter of this year, with a sharp GT version to follow a bit later. The facelift of the popular Kie Sportage will arrive before the end of the year, and the brand is preparing another constellation of new products for the markets in the USA and China. Well, it will definitely not be boring this year…
