The largest serial Volkswagen went through a small rejuvenation treatment, which focused mainly on the electronic equipment. In addition to new assistants, the crafter can also boast of artificial intelligence.
The second generation of the Volkswagen Crafter is no longer produced together with the Mercedes Sprinter, but it is not without a sibling. The MAN TGE is also based on the crafter. Both of these models have now undergone a slight refresh, which focused mainly on the electronic equipment.
In the case of Volkswagen, we can look forward to a standard multifunction steering wheel that works with a digital instrument panel. Controlling on-board functions should be facilitated by the new voice assistant IDA, which works with artificial intelligence in the form of the ChatGPT interface. The menu also includes an electric parking brake with the Auto Hold function.
Due to increasingly strict safety requirements, the Volkswagen Crafter will receive, for example, the Front Assist package with autonomous braking with detection of cyclists and pedestrians, Lane Assist, rear parking sensors, Travel Assist combining adaptive cruise control with lane keeping, Emergency Assist (in an emergency apply the brakes and steer the car to the side of the road) or blind spot monitoring, which at speeds of 0-30 km/h can alert pedestrians, cyclists and others (for the N2 version weighing over 3.5 tons).
At the start of sales, the Volkswagen Crafter will be available with two four-cylinder 2.0 TDI diesels with 103 and 130 kilowatts, with a six-speed manual and front-wheel drive. An eight-speed automatic and four-wheel drive will follow. Again, it will be possible to choose from many versions with lengths of 6.0 to 7.4 meters.
Czech prices are not yet known, but according to official information, they should remain at the level of the older version, which in the case of the classic cabinet model on our market starts at CZK 1,098,727 including VAT.
