Rejuvenated models catch the attention at first sight of the redesigned front, which relies on the new “shark nose” design approach, presented with the Cupra Terramar concept. In addition to the new bumpers, both models received modified LED matrix lights with a triangular signature, a larger grille and modified logos.
The rear of both cars has also undergone a modification, also betting on a sharper cut design of the bumpers and new lights decorated with a new logo, which is illuminated. The paint range has expanded to include Century Bronze and Enceladus Grey.
Both models are available with a diverse range of powertrains, including mild-hybrid eTSI and pure petrol and diesel engines. The new generation of the plug-in hybrid offers a combined power of up to 200 kW (272 hp), an electric range of up to 100 km and charging at a power of up to 50 kW.
But the biggest novelty is the new 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine designed only for the Cupra Formentor and Leon Sportstourer models (those interested in the hatchback are out of luck), tuned to an output of 245 kW (333 hp).
This motorization is combined with a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox and a sophisticated all-wheel drive system, which has a torque splitter at the rear axle for optimal distribution of power between the wheels. In addition, the engine received a special Cupra driving mode and Akebono brakes.
The cabin of both models will offer a redesigned center console and new materials, traditionally with a high emphasis on environmental origins. The Cupra also used a new infotainment with a 12.9-inch screen, equipped with backlit sliders, and improved the digital cockpit interface. The Sennheiser audio system with 12 speakers is also new.
