The flagship of the Stuttgart automaker has undergone a discreet modernization, which, in addition to new paintwork, also brings advanced autonomous driving functions that will also be available in Europe.
Rolls-Royce and Bentley cars are unsurpassed in many ways. Because they cost as much as a very nice apartment in Prague, they are partly made by hand and with incredible attention to detail. However, if we were to take regular production, we can consider the Mercedes-Benz S-Class to be the best car in the world, setting trends for many years to come.
The current generation W223 from September 2020 offers in many ways what its British competitors do, but for half the money. And not to be left behind, it underwent a minor modernization for the upcoming model year, which focused mainly on technology.
The award-winning MBUX on-board system has received a minor redesign and the inclusion of the Ridevu service from Sony Pictures Entertainment, thanks to which you can stream your favorite movies and series directly on board the Mercedes.
The range of driving and safety assistants is expanded by the automatic lane change system, which can switch from lane to lane on supported highways and expressways without the driver’s involvement. We can also look forward to a pair of new lacquers: silver metallic Verde Silver and brown Velvet Brown.
The factory version of the S 680 Guard 4Matic with armor and VPAM VR10 ballistic protection, which in the case of passenger cars represents the highest class of crew protection, has also been improved.
Even more manual work
If I mentioned at the beginning that the British manufacturers of ultra-luxury cars have a relatively high proportion of manual labor, the Mercedes-Benz S is not bad either. After being refreshed, it offers even wider possibilities of the Manufaktur individualization program, which relies on the skill of people, not machines.
You can choose from twelve special Manufaktur series paints (including Kalahari gold shade or olive metallic) and five exclusive interior color combinations. The workshop of the Manufaktur program is located in Sindelfingen, where special series or cars for individual orders are also being prepared.
The S-Class in Sindelfingen is created in the legendary Factory 56 plant, where more luxurious derivatives with Maybach emblems and an electric alternative in the form of the Mercedes EQS are also assembled. Altogether, around 1,500 people work here.
