Land Rover Defender received a handful of news. Version 130 will now also offer luxury seats in the back

--

The British brand has prepared a light modernization for the Defender model line, which adjusts the range of engines and expands the options for comfort equipment.

After four years on the market, Land Rover does not come with a complete facelift for the Defender. The modern off-road still looks the same, so a number of new products are more a response to market requirements and a simplification of the offer to customers. The British brand introduces modifications across the body variants (i.e. 90, 110 and 130), but keeps some news exclusively for specific specifications.

Defender brings technical changes to the range of engines offered, although Land Rover does not yet provide more precise information on individual markets. Globally, for example, it introduces the new mild-hybrid diesel engine D350 (258 kW/350 hp), already known from the Range Rover, replacing the weaker D300 (221 kW/300 hp).

For legislative reasons, the mild-hybrid six-cylinder P400 is also to be removed from the offer, which will be replaced by the new P425 (312 kW/425 hp), according to the British Autocar, a detuned version of the turbocharged V8 engine. The four-cylinder plug-in hybrid P400e will in turn make way for the new, weaker specification P300e (221 kW/300 hp). The offer in the Czech Republic has not yet been updated at the time of writing, so we will wait for more specific information for our market.

For the long body 130, Land Rover is now offering the option of a pair of “captain’s” chairs in the second row. The luxury seats have their own armrests, are heated and ventilated, and their location creates sufficient passage space to the rear towards the third row of seats.

A special Sedona Edition, inspired by the city in Arizona, is heading to the Defender 110 range. The novelty features Sedona red paint (previously seen on the 130 version), an extended package of black body accessories, black wheels and specific interior equipment. The spare wheel carrier is painted in body color as are the optional side luggage racks. The Sedona Edition will only be available for one year.

Finally, Land Rover is revising and simplifying the range of trim levels itself. The S, X-Dynamic SE, X-Dynamic HSE, X and V8 levels will now be available for all body versions, while new packages summarizing the most desirable equipment elements should make it easier for customers to configure their dream Defender.
