Lewis Hamilton still has 18 races to go for Mercedes. It was already announced before the start of the season that we will see him at Ferrari from next year.

Lewis Hamilton has said he is now fully focused on the remaining races at Mercedes, which he wants to help move forward. The team is currently fourth on the track and in the championship.

“I’m not in touch with the Ferrari team,” Hamilton said, as quoted by Racing News 365. “I’m watching them from afar, but all the attention now is on how we can beat them. How we can win. That’s where all my energy goes.”

“My heart is still with Mercedes at the moment,” continues Hamilton, who is said to want to lift Mercedes up.

This year, the Silver Arrows wanted to be in the same position as Ferrari or McLaren – that is, to be closer to Red Bull, to fight for podiums and at least make Verstappen’s journey to the next title more difficult. In reality, however, they are only the fourth best team.

“It is not only my job, but also my wish this year. And as hard as it’s been, we’re still united and I’m really proud of everyone I work with. I really hope it will be a better year. I don’t want to say it can’t be worse, but I definitely think we will get better.’

Hamilton already knew before the season that he was retiring at the end of the year. “I’ve never been in a situation like this before, so it’s a unique scenario,” said Hamilton, who said he was happy to continue working with his people at Mercedes, but “at the same time, I’m excited about the future. The reaction from the fans is also fantastic because I get to meet the fans of both teams.”
