In an inauspicious time, Vladimír Slavínský filmed an optimistic story about the fact that even the most distant worlds can be connected. The sky and bagpipes have been entertaining the Czech audience for more than 80 years.
Rudolf Bartoš is a rich man, the owner of a quarry and a stone processing factory. He has no understanding for the plight of ordinary people, probably because he has never encountered anything like it. The servants themselves respect, if not fear, the master. As a counterpoint, there is the household of the worker Fábera, which he shares with his young, pretty daughter and two orphaned orphans who bring joy to his life. Luck has not favored them too much in life, yet they are satisfied as much as possible. You can test how well you remember the details and cast of the film in the quiz.
A romantic comedy about the connection of these two worlds, it was filmed at a time when the Second World War was in full swing. This is so evident that even in the scene when the factory worker Bartoš learns that Mr. Fábera has been injured, a German fighter jet that was flying over the area can be seen in the distance. Even so, the filmmakers and the actors were able to enjoy the filming, mainly thanks to the Blahník siblings, who knew how to make them angry and put a smile on their faces at the same time. Both boys were musically gifted and often proved it on set, but they did not show much in terms of artistic talent. In the scene where they want to repaint the goat as a zebra, the crew first had to pre-paint faint lines on the goat so that the guys knew exactly where to paint.
The very title of the film is beautifully symbolic. Nebe a dudy represents something that is completely different, just like the lives of Fábera and Bartoš. So, did you shine in the quiz as you expected?
