Sad news hit the acting world. At the age of 74, Ian Gelder, who became known to viewers mainly thanks to the series Game of Thrones, left us forever. There he portrayed the nobleman Kevan Lannister. As reported by the BBC, the actor lost his battle with bile duct cancer.

Ian Gelder has gone to acting heaven forever. The British actor became famous among the general public especially for his role in the fantasy series Game of Thrones, in which he played the role of Kevan Lannister. His death was reported by the BBC. The actor was diagnosed with bile duct cancer five months ago, which eventually became fatal.

His beloved husband and fellow actor Ben Daniels confirmed the sad news on social networks. “It is with great sadness and a heavy heart, broken into a million pieces, that I have to announce the passing of my husband and life partner, Ian Gelder,” informed about the tragedy.

He was diagnosed with bile duct cancer five months ago

“He was the kindest and most generous human being I have ever met. He fought his terrible disease bravely and without self-pity. He was irreplaceable and will be missed by all of us.” adds Ben, who stopped working and took care of him the moment his partner heard the unfavorable diagnosis from the doctors.

“I stopped working to look after him, but neither of us knew it would be so soon. He was my absolute support and we were partners for over 30 years. If we weren’t together, we spoke every day. He was the kindest, most generous, most loving person. He was a wonderful, wonderful actor, and everyone who worked with him was touched.” continues Daniels.

Gelder has a number of acting successes to his name. Apart from Game of Thrones, he also starred in the popular TV series Time Lord, where he played the alien Zellin. He also appeared in Robin Hood or in one episode of the detective series Hercule Poirot. He was also cast in a number of films.
