In the last months of his life, Radko Pytlík ran after doctors. But he didn’t like being in the hospital, he would rather spend time with his family. “We felt and knew that dad wanted to go home. We also wanted to have him at home,” admitted Vojta in the Cesta domú podcast.
But the father’s sudden departure home from the hospital was at odds with the hospital staff. “The headmaster told us that we have to leave him there, that he has two antibiotics, that he needs to finish his treatment. But I had a dream that my dad was in the operating room and he was calling me – Vojtíška, help! And that woke me up, I immediately contacted Kateřina Rusínová, who advised me that if we feel that way, let’s take him home immediately from the hospital,” explained Dykwhy the family finally decided to keep the dying dad and husband with them.
Vojta Dyk complained to himself 2 years after his marriage to Tána: Nobody listens to me at home!
He was reconciled
The actor and singer argued with the doctors. “I was very forceful, I said – whatever you say, I don’t care, our dad is going home,” Vojta said, adding that he and his mother and sister knew very well that early discharge from the hospital meant their father’s early departure to the other world. “It’s not that he doesn’t want to live, but I think these last few days he’s been a little resigned to the fact that he’s leaving. And you could see it, the dips into that world, in the eyes, movements, touches… It is important to distinguish between the health of the body, but also of the soul,” Dyk admitted. He is convinced that he did the best for his father.
The last four days
In the end, they only had a sick dad at home for four days, but for Dyk, the most important thing in retrospect is that they were able to make time for his departure as a family, they endured stomach pains from stress, awake nights, but in retrospect, everyone remembers it as a wonderful time. Dad fulfilled his last dream – to be with his family until the last moment. “We took turns, we actually had services so that everyone could rest. It was one of the most beautiful days in my life,” admitted Vojta in the Cesta domú podcast.
