The upcoming cycle of three talks Prague vs. Urban development, climate change, affordable housing, these are the topics that will be heard in Zaliv Central Library on Mariánské náměstí on April 11 and 25 and May 2 from 6 p.m. each time.

The first of the evenings will offer, for example, the questions What will the cities of the 21st century be like, how will we live in them and what is the biggest challenge for future architects and urban planners? Who will decide on the form of cities, their self-government – experts or multinational capital? And are urban development strategies even feasible?

The second evening will deal with Prague’s adaptation to climate change. In 2019, Prague approved the City Climate Plan. of Prague until 2030 and is preparing a number of measures
in the field of transport, energy or circular economy.

The last evening will reflect on affordable housing in a time that is economically demanding and when more and more people are moving to cities.

The Czech Republic is commemorating 20 years since joining the EU. “We are used to the common market and open borders, what else can Europe and the neighboring states inspire us in?”, the organizer of the lecture series, Věra Chmelárová from the Municipal Library in Prague, asks not only her guests.

Experts, journalists, representatives of the city and non-profit organizations will appear at the discussion table, for example Rozálie Kašparová, architect and urban planner, Prokop Vodrážka, journalist and columnist from Deník N, Martin Bursík, climate expert and government advisor for the environment, Petra Kolínská, director of the Green Circle, Jakub Nakládal, architect, Re-set and others.

“Come and hear what challenges Prague faces in the 21st century and how it manages to fulfill its own strategies compared to its European neighbors,” said Simona Doušková from the library.
