A copy of the Eiffel Tower, which will stand by Lake Most in July and August during the Olympic Games, will have several unique items. It will be completely 3D printed, in addition to new recycled material from plastic waste fished from the ocean.

During the Olympic Games in Paris, which will be held from July 26 to August 11, the sixth edition of the Olympic Festival will take place, this time at Lake Most.

“The Olympic Festival will offer over 50 sports to try out, which is the highest number in the history of the event,” says Naďa Černá, project director of the Czech Olympic Committee.

“At the same time, we are looking forward to cheering on the Czech athletes together, because after a long time the Olympic Games will be in the same time zone. For the first time, we will also have an Olympic camp for fans, and we believe that visitors will enjoy not only the whole day at the Olympic Festival, but also falling asleep near our version of the Eiffel Tower. It will be our Bridge to Paris,” adds Černá.

The planned tower will be 14 meters high and weigh 1.36 tons. It was developed and built by the Czech company 3DDen for the Olympic Festival. This unique piece is part of the collaboration between 3DDen and the Czech Olympic Committee.

An original version of the Eiffel Tower is already being built in Prague’s Horní Počernice. 3D printers of the company 3DDen’s own production work on it systematically every day. “The whole process will take almost three months and it will be necessary to manufacture and assemble approximately 1,500 pieces of printed components. However, I like challenges, which is why I nodded at the offer to build such a monument,” says the founder of 3DDen, Honza Hřebabecký.

The tower will be made of oPET material. It is a completely new recycled material that can be the solution to the problem of pollution of the planet with plastic produced often for disposable purposes. The Czech startup 3DDen is the first in the world to use it for innovative 3D printing on printers of its own production. A variety of objects are created in this way, from various figurines, interior decorations, advertising items, sports cups, through furniture to large installations, where there are no limits to creativity and possibilities.
