A tram hit a man at a stop in Brno, the rescuers could no longer help him

The accident happened shortly before 9:00 a.m. at the Svratecká tram stop in the Brno district of Komín. Police spokesman Bohumil Malášek said that a pedestrian was hit by a tram. Police did not specify the man’s age.

The man suffered fatal injuries and, according to ambulance spokeswoman Michaela Bothova, he died before the arrival of paramedics.

“The rescuers had no way to help the man anymore, his injuries were incompatible with life,” the spokeswoman added, adding that according to her information, the man was wedged under the tram set.

Firefighters also intervened at the scene, and according to their spokesman Jaroslav Mikoška, ​​they helped pull out the man’s body and also erected a screen around it.

The spokeswoman for the Transport Company of the City of Brno (DP) Hana Tomaštíková said that the man had entered the railway yard before the collision, according to witnesses. The police did not provide further details about the accident, the circumstances of the tragedy are still being investigated.

The consequences of the accident affected traffic, when the tram route at the Komín depot had to be terminated and at the same time DP extended bus lines 50, 52 and 54 so that passengers could reach the Bystrc district.
