“Current laboratory findings are favorable, Mr. President is able to walk in a walker,” the hospital said in a press release. Zeman was released to home care on Wednesday.
The former president is being treated and has a care plan for the following period.
According to the press release, Zeman underwent plastic surgery of the artery, removal of a blood clot, patency of the arterial channel and two fasciotomies of the lower leg due to the developing swelling of the limb.
During the treatment, it was possible to close both fasciotomies of Zeman and the former president began to rehabilitate. The entire medical council agreed on his release to home care.
Ex-president Miloš Zeman was hospitalized in the intensive care unit (ICU) at the cardiovascular clinic at the Motol hospital after the operation. He was then transferred to an internal clinic, where he rehabilitated after the operation.
“The wounds are healing well after the operation,” Pavlína Danková, spokeswoman for the Motol hospital, commented on the former president’s state of health last week. However, Zeman’s health condition was serious, there was also a threat of recurrence of thrombosis, to which the doctors had to adjust the treatment.

Zeman’s spokesman Jiří Ovčáček previously stated that the hospitalization is also related to diabetes, which the 79-year-old ex-president has been suffering from for a long time.
At the start of his first term in 2013, doctors informed him that he was suffering from polyneuropathy, which causes him to lose feeling in his legs, a common neurological complication of diabetes. In April 2021, Zeman started using a wheelchair.
