“In the case in question, on April 24, the criminal prosecution of two natural persons – members of the security forces – was initiated for actions that were qualified as the offense of rioting committed partly independently, partly in complicity,” said the spokesman of the Prague municipal prosecutors, Aleš Cimbala, to the novinky.cz server.

The accused are a man and a woman who worked for the police at the time of the incident. The man was also charged with the crime of grievous bodily harm. The police already informed at the beginning of April that he was released from duty.

The Blesk newspaper drew attention to the February incident in Nádražní Street. A drunken police officer in formal uniform was supposed to attack a girl outside a night bar after the police ball. Specifically, he dragged her by the hair on the ground, he also knelt on her. His girlfriend, also a policewoman, helped him. Bystanders tried to intervene in the matter, finally the police patrol arrived.

The attacked young girl had to be treated by paramedics, who took her to the hospital with minor injuries. According to the newspaper, law enforcement officers measured the man’s blood alcohol level at 2.6 per thousand, and his girlfriend was also drunk.

“We consider this behavior to be completely unacceptable and inexcusable. We apologize anyway. The failure of one police officer unfortunately harms all the others. We can assure you that this is definitely not the normal behavior of our colleagues, and the Prague director will therefore be uncompromising in the next procedure,” the police wrote afterwards, as the matter came to light.
