He tried to kidnap a boy from kindergarten, pretending to be his mother. The young man received a year in prison

“His actions were aimed at realizing his own preconceived intention to remove the minor from his mother’s custody,” explained judge Michal Zámečník.

The case happened last May. The man first called the teacher’s work phone and pretended to be the boy’s uncle. But the teacher told him that he is not listed among the people who can take the child away. In the text messages he sent from the same number, he immediately asked as a mother that the uncle could pick up the boy. He even pretended to be a woman during a phone call.

“He explained the impossibility of picking up his son by the mother’s health problems and then sent the initials and year of birth of the man who was supposed to pick up the minor from his e-mail account. In response to the kindergarten’s subsequent e-mail, where it asked the mother for confirmation of the child’s release, he confirmed his consent to his release, while still pretending to be the mother,” the judge described.

After that, the young man personally appeared at the kindergarten, where he presented his passport and strongly demanded the release of the boy, who was playing on the playground in the meantime. At the same time he walked up to him and waved at him. However, the teacher refused to hand over the pupil to him and asked him to leave the kindergarten, which he did.

The convict knew the boy from the neighborhood, he used to go out together with his brother. “I wanted to go for a walk with him, talk and then return him home to his mother after work,” the man explained after the main trial began, noting that the pick-up was not planned.

According to the expert, the sexological treatment failed

At that time, he suffered from greater anxieties, and later voluntarily admitted himself to a psychiatric hospital. According to expert opinion, he suffered in the past and still suffers from mild mental retardation and sexual preference disorder – pedophilia.

He denied any abuse of the neighborhood boys described in the indictment, as well as any prior acts. At the same time, he has already committed sexually motivated behavior towards children in the past.

During the institutional treatment ordered after last year’s hospitalization, he was repeatedly instructed not to have contact with children. “The man relapsed during outpatient protective treatment, when he was already hormonally suppressed. There is therefore no other option to intensify the treatment,” Petra Sejbalová, a court expert in the field of sexology, said at the hearing.

According to her, the repeated sexological treatment of the defendant, who had been under professional supervision since 2014, had failed. For the first time, years ago, he was ordered to be hospitalized in a psychiatric hospital on suspicion of raping a seventeen-year-old mentally retarded girl. He later had to undergo protective sexological treatment because he committed another sexually motivated act, namely towards his three-year-old nephew.

In addition to prison, the regional court also ordered the man to undergo institutional sexological treatment. He was also charged with attempted rape, but the judge found him guilty “only” of attempted child abduction.
