Janotka: Rewriting the record and five wins in April? The guys deserve a lot of credit

For the fifth time in a row, coach Tomáš Janotka could clench his fist in a winning gesture. His wards robbed Juliska of Prague on Saturday afternoon, from where they took three points and a convincing 3:0 win at Hana. “The guys deserve a lot of credit“, Janotka praised his team.

The 3:0 result looks convincing. How do you rate the match?

Most positively. We won against the leader of the table and against a very high-quality team, such as Dukla Prague. I must say that the victory is fully deserved. In the first half, we showed an above-standard performance, which had high parameters in terms of offense and defense. After changing sides, we finished the match excellently. We didn’t let the opponent have any 100% chances during the whole match.

You scored two quick goals. Did they determine the nature of the match?

Of course, goals make matches. But we knew that although we had a great start to the match and scored two quick goals, practically the whole match was still ahead of us. There was still a lot of work ahead of us.

You practically didn’t let Dukla do anything. You said on Friday that you have a game against a league opponent ahead of you, which will also require top-flight performances from your team.

It is true. With all the players putting in high-quality individual performances, we could think of success. At the same time, I think there was no one who surpassed the others. But the boys pull together perfectly. Thanks to the fact that they performed well, we succeeded in Juliska.

You’ve kept a clean slate on the leaderboard. If we look at your line-up, the stoppers were Dohnálek and Cahel, Koutný in goal. Last year they were still teenagers. How do you think they did in this test?

These are exactly the matches that push the boys on. Our motivation and goal for the boys was clear. It was a challenge. We told them that they have the opportunity to measure their qualities with players like Moulis, Mešanović, Douděra and Hora. I’m glad they passed with flying colors.

Yunusa Muritala scored one goal today, he assisted on Dele’s goal and after switching sides he could have made it one more time. What do you think of his progress?

I have to say he’s doing great in the spring. For him, it’s a question of setting, hard work and approach to football. What he gives to it now comes back to him. In the fall, as part of the individual plan, he did not work as I would have imagined. I clearly outlined to him what my idea of how it should work was. He responded great to it. He has changed his head setup, is working excellently in training and is starting to make an indisputable contribution to the club. He clearly confirmed it today.

You set the scoring record for our B-team in the second league. And we’ve only done 25 rounds. How does this statistic sound to you?

I am extremely proud of the boys. They rewrote the history of the B-team and no one can erase that from them. Stats are meant to be surpassed in some way. I think these guys deserve it for their determination, hard work and the way they stick together and work hard. Everything comes back to them on the field. If they broke the all-time record, after 25 rounds, then they deserve a lot of credit.

After Vyškov, you said that you would look at the table at the end of the month and evaluate your position in it. How do you rate him at the end of April?

I rate it extremely above standard. Before the game, I showed the boys that we have four green boxes in the April game column, meaning four wins, and that it would be fantastic if we could manage the game at Dukla and have five victories in the April game column. It’s incredible that we managed to fulfill it. I would probably repeat myself, but there is a lot of effort, effort and football qualities behind it. It wouldn’t be possible without it.
