PLZEŇSKÝ KRAJ – The burning of witches will have to do without bonfires in part of the territory of the Pilsen Region. Meteorologists have issued a fire warning. Bans on making fires are also connected with this. As a result of drought, high temperatures and wind, the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute has issued a “DANGER OF FIRE” warning, which is valid for part of the Pilsen region – Blovice, Horažďovice, Kralovice, Nepomuk, Nýřany, Pilsen, Přeštice, Rokycany, Stod. The warning is valid from 04/30/2024 00:00 to 5/2/2024 00:00.
“The warning is valid for part of the territory of the Pilsen region (ORP Horažďovice, the districts of Plzeň – city, Plzeň-sever, Plzeň-south, Rokycany) with effect from midnight on 4/30/2024. It automatically prohibits the making of fires on selected places. The period of validity of this warning is a period of adverse climatic conditions, when some activities related to the danger of fires are restricted,” said the spokeswoman of the Pilsen region.
In the event that the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute publishes a “DANGER OF FIRE” warning as part of the integrated warning service system, there is a period of adverse climatic conditions when, on the basis of Regulation of the Pilsen Region No. 5/2016, which establishes the conditions for ensuring fire protection during increased risk of fire, the following activities are prohibited:
- a) making or maintaining an open fire (e.g. burning twigs and bark, burning flammable substances in the open),
- b) smoking (with the exception of electronic cigarettes),
- c) use of pyrotechnic products,
- d) using other sources of ignition, e.g. lanterns, torches,
- e) throwing burning or smoldering objects,
- f) driving a steam locomotive, if safety measures are not provided to prevent the occurrence of fire,
- g) consumption of water from a source for extinguishing fires for purposes other than extinguishing,
- h) driving motor vehicles in the wild off roads (this provision does not apply to driving motor vehicles that are intended for work and economic activity in forests and fields, to driving motor vehicles on field and forest roads to residential buildings and constructions for individual recreation, for driving vehicles of components of the integrated rescue system).
The mentioned activities are prohibited in the following places:
- a) forest cover and its surroundings up to a distance of 50 m from its edge,
- b) forest park, park and other continuous plant cover enabling the occurrence and spread of fire,
- c) hay, straw warehouses and their surroundings up to a distance of 100 meters from their edge,
- d) the area of agricultural crops which, due to their plant character, are capable of igniting and spreading fire.
When using pyrotechnic products, their parts capable of initiating a fire must be prevented from falling on the specified places. The use of flying lanterns is prohibited throughout the territory of the Pilsen region.
