It all started when the man, who turned out to be a case worthy of a psychiatrist, was talking in a taxi on the way from Trutnovsk to Uherské Hradiště, where he went to arm himself.
He told the taxi driver an alarming plan of what he was going to do with the weapons, which gave the driver the impression that some officials from Trutnovsk were concerned about their health, if not their lives.
The taxi driver, as soon as the strange passenger got out, did not hesitate and reported the details of the conversation with the apparently not quite normal customer to the police.
“The investigation revealed that this is a psychiatric patient who bought three pieces of historical weapons on an internet portal, for which he took a taxi to Moravia,” added police spokeswoman Šárka Pižlová.
The findings indicated that it is not a banal, harmless whim of a mentally ill person.
The police officers conducted house searches at the cottage and at the place of residence of the suspect man, during which they found three functional historical shotguns, so-called doubles, manufactured before 1890, worth fifty thousand crowns.
“According to the expert, the mentally ill man meets the conditions of protective detention because he was a danger to society at the time. The expert therefore ordered involuntary hospitalization in a hospital in Kosmonosy,” added Pižlová.
