At the end of April, Supraphon released a set of five CDs under the name “Mystery of Early Baroque”, recorded by the legendary ensemble led by Pavel Klikar in the years 1988-1996 for this label.
I am recording an already extinct file Musica Antiqua Prague – the pioneering ensemble of authentic interpretation of early music in Czechoslovakia, which he founded and artistically led in the 1980s Pavel Klikarhas recently been receiving renewed attention from music labels.
Already a year ago they were published by Animal Music previously unreleased images of this file under the title Music of baroque Prague. This year April 26 then Supraphone collectively published under the title Mystery of Early Baroque (The mystery of the early baroque) all five albums that Musica Antiqua Praha recorded for Supraphon in the years 1988-1996.
The set includes a wide repertoire – from fresh-sounding Italian early baroque to gems preserved in the Kroměříž bishop’s archive to Czech baroque Christmas carols. All of this, of course, with the use of historical sources, reconstruction of period instruments and old tunings.
The band’s lutenist participated as a producer in the release of the new ensemble album Přemysl Vacekwho stated: “Today, the legendary founder and leader of the ensemble Pavel Klikar he was a sort of prophet and harbinger of authentic interpretation of early music in the Czech lands. As a precise perfectionist, he tried to achieve absolute interpretation and sound perfection. In this way, he achieved a timeless quality that still feels fresh and young today and remains a source of inspiration for future generations of explorers of unknown musical worlds.”
