Gastro festival “Cesta kolem světa” returns to Masaryk Square for the second time. It will offer lovers of good food and drink not only selected delicacies, but also an accompanying program and lots of fun.

On Tuesday the 7th and Wednesday the 8th of May, you can go on the tastiest journey this year. The 2nd year of the gastro festival will take you to different corners of the planet through national specialties.

From Uherské Hradiště to America? Through Asia or Egypt…

The tasting trip around the globe will be divided into zones according to world cuisines. Some of the best food truckers from all over the Czech Republic will stop by Masaryk Square to prepare their proven menu. “In the popular American zone, they will offer excellent burgers, ribs, hot dogs, home fries, wings or sandwiches, you will taste famous fries and various types of dried meat,” revealed the coordinator of the gastro festival, Monika Ondruchová.

New to this year’s festival will be the Indonesia stand, where they will serve you coconut pancakes, Bala-Bala vegetable pancake and Babi Kecap. Sunny Italy will be presented again this year by pizzatins and others. World desserts will complete the good food.

Another very popular stop will be Mexico and authentic Mexican specialties such as quesadilla mexicana with nachos or crispy combo tacos with Mexican salsas of pico de gallo, pina and guacamole. The Egyptian stall will prepare authentic Egyptian street food. “You can try our great chicken shawarma with pomegranate, beef kofta with tahini dip and falafel with pickled lemon, all with pita or Egyptian rice in a veggie and vegan version,” invites Mrs. Lenka Ahmed to traditional Egyptian specialties.

“Zóna Asia will present Thai coconut soup Tom Kha Gai, Vietnamese soup Phó Bo or Bubba Gump prawns,” outlined the quality Asian menu, another of the festival’s organizers Jakub Vodárek.

The chef Lukáš Neckář, whom you may know from the TV show “Colorful World of Lukáš Neckář”, will also present himself at this stand. Lukáš’s passion is colorful sushi, which he has been preparing for 20 years at various prestigious events. He will present his sushi cooking show at the gastro festival!

Do you know what Argentinian empanadas are? “You can taste these popular Argentinian bags in several ways,” adds Vodárek. The next stop will be Spain, which will be presented on Wednesday by the talented Spanish chef Miquel Villarejos with paella and snail specialties.

There will also be traditional Czech cuisine, from farm potatoes, grilled venison, beer stews, potato cakes to patents, bales, bagels, dumplings and other delicacies of Mrs. Nejezchlebová. For those of you who prefer healthier food, be sure to visit the vegetarian restaurant in the most famous Mojí vinotéca in Hradishu.

There will also be an insect stand. “We know there are many of you who adore insects, so we decided to organize a timed worm-eating contest for you on Wednesday,” draws attention to the traditional festival competition Monika Ondruchová.

Both days will be enjoyed by DJ Spike. On Tuesday, the Omladinka Children’s Folklore Ensemble will perform at 3:30 p.m. At 5:00 p.m., the maxi eater Jaroslav Němec will take the stage, and this time he will attempt his personal record in eating pig’s ears. After the exhibition, chef Lukáš Neckář will appear with colorful sushi. At 18.00 the Slovak breakfast competition will start, where 6 contestants will have the opportunity to fight with a half-meter-long morning glory. The winner will take home a fragrant pork leg. The band NaEx will play in the evening.

The sushi show is repeated on Wednesdays at 12:30 p.m. Magical games with Jirka Hadaš are waiting for children from 14:00, Železný Zekon from 15:30. Singer Honza Grebík will make the afternoon pleasant from 4:30 p.m. A bouncy castle and other attractions for children will be available on both days.
